IL RISTORANTE - le restaurant Italien de Rennes - Pacé

I'd wanted to try this restaurant for a while. I wasn't satisfied. The welcome was friendly, but then nothing for 45 minutes. I had to go find the waiter to take our order, and considering the time wasted, we only ordered three main courses, even though the appetizers looked tempting. The beef tartare was bland, with no basil but button mushrooms, and the ravioli were overcooked in the center and dry around the edges. The Parmesan was in a container that was passed from table to table and wasn't covered, which wasn't very hygienic. The terrace is pleasant.

What a disappointment! This was my second experience at this restaurant. While the food served was generally of good quality for a chain restaurant, the wait time was unacceptable. Some of the servers are clearly unfit for service in such a restaurant. How can you explain the long wait? The carafe of coffee was offered but then forgotten by the same server who had offered it, just to be polite, seeing how desperate we were to get our food? One of the servers on the terrace, who was everywhere at once, was remarkable, but he was the only one. And the worst part is that the restaurant was far from full... I can't imagine what the other customers must have been going through. Yet we hadn't ordered anything special; we even chose the pizza of the day, and there were only two of us. If the kitchen can't keep up with the daily special... perhaps they should change it. We were offered a 10% discount at the register, which I accepted. At least there was some acknowledgment of the very mediocre experience we had. If we had been pressed for time, it wouldn't have been possible... Yet I saw tables served more quickly; to achieve that, you had to avoid pizzas, appetizers, and perhaps even desserts...

It all started with a fantastic welcome 🤩. The waiter was as pleasant as he was professional, with a great sense of humor. The food was delicious and plentiful 😋. You contributed to the success of our reunion evening. Thank you so much, we'll be back, and maybe for a San Pellegrino 😉
